It protected the people in Australia and also the soldiers that fought in the war. With censoring letters and media, people believed that this was the best way to go
It was an invasion of privacy. In some cases they would go too far. Looking at people’s letters and watching everything you do is a pretty harsh way of protecting.
It calmed the public to know that they and their family at war would be safe; they made sure that nothing would leak out into enemy ears.
The rationing was too small. For a big family, rationing 112 coupons would be quite hard on them
The government had their mind set on protecting Australia with whatever means necessary and the public new that they could trust them with that.
The idea of being controlled by the government is a bit unsettling. They could force people to go to war or work more. There would be no choice.
Hiding certain information helped settle down the nation. This was good because people would not be aware of the dangers and the government can work without doing something in a rush to calm everyone
With hiding information, the public would feel as if the government is hiding more than that.
